Can also be used for spices, but clean well before and after. and it is still going strong. Great coffee grinder. I have had mine for 8 years (older version).
Get the Krups instead, I have that one at work and it is much better. The grinder is too small and you are guaranteed to spill beans everywhere.
I've went through several spice grinders nad this one holds to my many demands.It does a nice job of grinding hard and soft spices to the desired grind.For the price its a great tool.
"It's like an alarm clock," as Bubb Rubb and Lil' Sis would say (speaking about whistle tips exhaust modifications). It is very loud compared to a Black & Decker unit that I have previously used. My main issue with this grinder is its small size. In summary, if you are looking for a small batch coffee bean grinder, the DCG-20 will work. I'm unsure what they were thinking when they designed this thing, but if you are brewing coffee for more than 3 people, you may want to look at another unit. My girlfriend and I have been using this grinder for just under two years now.
Overall, the price is right and it is an attractive little gadget. But, in my opinion, does it really matter for the 30 seconds of use it will get. pretty much every day. The cord is also very short, but that can either be a pro or con depending on where it is positioned/where the power outlet is. However, if I could go back in time and purchase a different model, I would. We purchased it because of the Cuisinart name, black color, and inexpensive price.
Filled to the top with beans, this thing can only produce enough grinds for ~5 cups of strong coffee in a drip coffeemaker.
